Obachan;
As I watched television programs about the bombing of Hiroshima, I pondered man's inhumanity to man...What sort of mind set allows for war and killing? Ahhhh... I let my passion for peace get the better of me sometimes.
For so many years the effects of the bombings have affected the people of Hiroshima, Nagasaki and surrounding areas. The lessons learned from that experience should never be forgotten.
If 1000 cranes could only make it all better>......

> Patrick --- Oh, creative? Thank you.
> Joanna --- Yep, it’s a crane. It is said in Japan that if you make 1000 paper cranes, your wish will come true. We know it’s unscientific but still we do that when we have a strong wish, or a prayer. Even though you do not believe in the magical effect of the cranes, just imagining how much effort the person(s) made for folding 1000 paper cranes really moves you. It really communicates the intensity of the wish, I think, and touches people. (Now forgive me for making only one, not 1000. I wished this to be a contribution to numerous sets of 1000 cranes that people have been and will be making for Hiroshima.)
> carlyn --- The way I see it is that the mind set of those who decided to drop the bomb was probably not so different from yours or mine. I bet they were not some special, inhumane people. Maybe they loved flowers, loved the beauty of life and loved their spouses and families… They must have been capable of loving and being loved. AND the same people can and did decide to drop the bomb. That’s a sad fact about human nature, I guess.
